At Oceans Africa we believe that your time at sea is sacred and that dive charters are best when conducted in small groups with personalised service.
Oceans Africa run private scuba diving charters on our boat Sea Otter in the Cape Town area. Sea Otter is perfect for small groups and buddy teams looking for a more exclusive dive experience. The boat can launch from Simonstown, Kommetjie or Hout Bay depending on the season and your diving requirements.
Our dive charters usually include either 2 dives for a double dive trip or 1 dive and an extended scenic tour exploring our beautiful coastline. These charters last approximately 4.5 hrs and dives are conducted at a maximum ratio of four scuba divers per Divemaster or Instructor.

Sea Otter is a one-of-a-kind dive boat! Light economical and a lot of fun – she is a fantastic boat for freediving and scuba adventures.
The swim platform at the stern allows for easy entry and exit from the water, while the forward facing seating arrangement ensures a spacious and comfortable ride to and from the dive sites.
Stowage under the seats and in the cabin provide plenty of dry space for your top-side equipment, cameras and personal items.
Sea Otter is a 19ft Butt Cat with 2 x 60hp Suzuki four stroke engines, rated to carry 6 passengers plus the skipper. Built for Cape waters she is light, economical and very comfortable.
Sea Otter is SAMSA certified for commercial operations up to 15NM offshore with day and night rating.

Scuba & Freediving Charters
Scuba diving or freediving?
Whether freediving or scuba diving, we like to think that we deliver one of the best boat dive options in Cape Town.
Our dive team has the knowledge, passion and experience to deliver a relaxed, yet safe and informative diving experiences to all our clients.
We try to keep numbers to a maximum of 4 divers for scuba and 6 if freediving.
Our boat carries a permit for dive operations in the TMNP MPAs, however scuba divers are required to carry their own individual SAN Parks MPA diving permits, available from the post office or though Oceans Africa.
No individual permit is required if freediving.
So Where Do We Dive?
You get to choose the dive sites!
The dive sites of Cape Town beautiful and varied. Colourful reef, kelp forests and wreck sites, provide many diverse opportunities for novice and advanced divers alike. It’s your dive trip so you get to choose – with a little help and guidance from us.
The dives on your private charter are selected according to your interests, experience and the diving conditions on the day. Popular dive combinations include, reef and wreck or kelp forest and seal dives. Ultimatley it’s up to you where we dive.
And don’t forget the scenery around the Cape Peninsular is simply spectacular. Tours of False Bay and the Atlantic seaboard all include extra time to explore the bays, coves and cliffs for marine life and photography.

We like to take our time on our charters, exploring the local area in search of other marine life on the way. We always try to stay flexible and adapt our charters to our clients interest, the conditions and the sightings on the day.
