Humpback whales are also on their migrations to and from the tropics and the chance of a sighting offshore is very high. Whale Watching Day Tour South AfricaThis is a full day guided whale watching tour from Cape Town we follow the old coast road past rugged mountains and sweeping bays to reach the coastal town of Hermanus. From the cliff-top elevation the southern right whales often lie just beneath you in the shallows allowing fantastic opportunities to observe them at your leisure. In the afternoon we take you on a 2 hr boat based tour. The vessel is officially licensed to conduct close encounters and may legally approach whales to within 50 meters, it is then up to the whales if they wish to investigate you and the boat more closely. Close Encounter Whale Watching CharterThis 1 - 3  hour close encounter whale watching charter is available from Plettenbergbay, Knysna, Hermanus, Gansbaai and Durban. After the safety briefing and launch (you should remain dry!) you explore the local area by boat in search of whale and dolphin activity. Our goal is to have an un-intrusive close encounter with some of the worlds largest mammals. The vessels are officially licensed to conduct close encounters and may legally approach whales to within 50 meters. It is then up to the whales if they wish to investigate you and the boat more closely. Often their natural curiosity gets the better of them providing an up close and personal encounter never to be forgotten. Open to all ages (R300 for under 12 yr's).
