Dive Cape Town and enjoy this exclusive dive package with Oceans Africa. This bespoke scuba diving tour is designed to showcase the best diving Cape Town has to offer. Available throughout the year this Cape Town dive package can be adjusted to suit your interests and your level of experience.

The tour includes: 4 x nights, superior bed and breakfast accommodation and 6 x dives. All dives are exclusive charters with Oceans Africa on our boat ‘Sea Otter’ and include dives with cape fur seals as well as wreck, reef and kelp forest dive options.

Our dive charters offer a personalised service with a dive team that has the depth of knowledge, passion and experience to deliver a relaxed, yet safe and informative diving experience. The dive package Cape Town also includes an extended dive charter exploring the magnificent False Bay.

Your Cape Town dive package can also be adapted to include a pelagic shark dive in search of blue and mako sharks when season and conditions allow. Additional days can easily be added to your Cape Town Dive Package should you wish to explore the many possibilities the Cape has to offer.

DAY 1: Arrival and transfer: We welcome you to Cape Town, the mother city, as you are met at international arrivals and transferred to Simonstown. Settle into your accommodation, relax and enjoy a wonderful evening sundowner overlooking False Bay. Dive planning and equipment requirements will be confirmed for the following day.

DAY 2: Kelp forest and seal dives. Today we start with a gentle introduction to Cape Town diving. Your first dive will be in the sheltered kelp forests looking for small sharks and invertebrates in this magical wonderland that is now becoming known as the Great African Sea Forest. Sea bamboo (Ecklonia maxima) grows to a maximum of 12m so this is an easy dive and a perfect environment to adjust to the cooler water, the extra layers and the extra weights that go with diving the Cape.

Your second dive of the day is with the Cape fur seals at Partridge Point. Gregarious, social and curious,  fur seals are among only a few wild species that allow human interaction. When conducted sensitively, underwater encounters with seals can be one of the most rewarding wildlife experiences.

DAY 3: If you have the lust for rust, False Bay offers several great wreck dive options that can be included in the dive package Cape Town. A favorite among the locals is the PMB (Pietermaritzburg) wreck from 16m – 21m. For more advanced divers there are the deeper wrecks of Smitswinkel Bay  were deliberately scuttled in the early 1970’s and are now covered in dense, colourful growth, providing a beautiful habitat for many fish and invertebrates.

The reef dives around the Cape Peninsular are simply spectacular. As you dive below the 10m mark, between giant blocks of granite, the wealth of colour and the diversity of species soon becomes apparent. Every inch of rock is covered in invertebrate life. Wall sponges, gorgonian sea fans, basket stars and brittle stars all compete for your attention while closer inspection will reveal a bounty of micro-life. Nudibrach, amphipods, sea-spiders and tiny crabs will keep any photographer busy for hours.

DAY 4: False Bay adventure dive charter.  There is such extensive reef in False Bay that we are always finding new areas to explore. This is an extended 2 x dive charter in False Bay to dive new areas and visit seldom dived spots. Additional time is allowed for us to explore the bay in search of whales and dolphins as well as to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the bay. Dive sites will be chosen on the day according to your interests, qualifications and the sea conditions. The boat will be available for 6 hours exploring within the confines of the False Bay

DAY 5: Tour end. Transfers out are arranged according to your flight schedule. Additional days may easily arranged with a wide variety of activities, accommodation and transport options to suit your individual requirements.

Blue & mako pelagic shark charter. Warm water gyres come closer to Cape Town in the Summer Months between Novemebr and May, with these currents come many pelagic fish and sharks. When the weather allows we head out to sea in search of blue and mako sharks! This is a baited dive in the open ocean without cages. There is an 90% success rate of diving with blue sharks on these trips, while mako sharks are sighted on average, every 2nd trip.

We often encounter dolphins, whales, game fish and pelagic birds on these charters, not forgetting the spectacular scenery of the Cape Peninsular and Cape Point from a unique ocean perspective. The trip out into into the blue waters off Cape Point may take as much as 2 hours as the activity may be as far as 20NM from the harbour in Simonstown. This is the wildest diving Cape Town has to offer so don’t miss out if the opportunity arises.

Night dives:  Diving at night can reveal many different animals and behaviors not seen during the day. Squid and cuttlefish are more active at night and may be seen hunting on small fish and krill. Bio-luminescence is also a feature of most night dives in the Cape, so time with torches off is essential fun on any night-time excursion. Many kinds and jellyfish and salp are also seen at night and their translucent forms lit by your dive torches make for amazing video and photographic opportunities.

Cape Town city tour.  Explore Cape Town and surrounds. No trip to Cape Town is complete without enjoying what the city itself has to offer. Cape Town is South Africa’s premier tourist destination and tour options may include, Cape Point, Wine Tasting,  Kirstenbosch Gardens, City Tour, Table Mountain, The V&A waterfront and Two Oceans Aquarium. Land based tour options will be discussed with on site and will be adapted to your interests and the weather.
